Five-star cornerback Anthony Cook took his official visit to UT this weekend. While Cook doesn’t really speak much on his recruitment, sources close to the Lamar High School product have said that this weekend’s visit could not have gone any better. One source said the gap between tOSU and Texas has been closed and is now a 50/50 race. Cook himself has even said that Texas and tOSU are now currently tied at the top of his list. While I believe that Texas has absolutely closed the gap I do still believe that Ohio State has a slight edge but it isn’t anywhere close where things have been up until his most recent visit to Texas. Cook plans to make his announcement on Oct 30th and has only LSU left to visit but most believe this is a two horse race between Ohio St. and Texas.
Chasen Hines was recently offered a scholarship at DT from the UT coaching staff. Since then, LSU has also reached out with a defensive line offer and the talented Lone Star State player sent out a tweet that reaffirmed his commitment to LSU yesterday. While on the surface this may appear like Hines is gone to LSU after yesterdays tweet, but I can assure you that this recruitment is far from being over. I was told yesterday that Chasen was actually very close to flipping his commitment and chose to hold off after conversations with his mother. This is another one that the UT staff will not let up on until the last day. He is a must take for Texas with the current offensive line struggles and the lack of depth along the defensive line.
2019 Cuero Ath Jordan Whittington says he would now like to have a commitment made around Christmas time. Jordan Whittington says a lot of things. His recruitment will be a roller coaster so my best advice is to either ignore anything he says or does whether it’s positive or negative for UT. If you can’t do that then buckle up because this is a roller coaster.
The staff got out to see Missouri product Ronnie Perkins this weekend. This one is thought to be a two horse race between Texas and OU with OU holding the slight edge but I like UT’s chances a lot simply because of the lack of depth on the d-line and players are still transferring out. Playing time is a big deal for these kids and Texas can offer about as much PT as anyone right now at the d-line spots.
