Sorry for all of the Shane buechelle threads and take this with a grain of salt bc this is second or even third hand news but Shane Buechelle's injury is more serious than reported. Rumors he could be out for up to 3 weeks.
Update Tues 9:30pm: Buechele received limited reps today and didn't participate in 11-on-11. Probably going to see Sam and Jerrod again vs USC while Shane takes this week and the bye week to heal for Iowa St.

Whoa! Hate to hear that. Torn labrum?
Sam did well for his first game, and I'm glad it is out of the way--and was at home against an easier team. But his passing has to be way better next Saturday. USC won't drop those interceptions.

USC won't drop those interceptions. They haven't released anything officially yet. Idk that anything is torn. Sam had a good day once he settled down but still missed on a lot of open receivers. He is a big improvement over Shane with his legs though. He's noticeably quicker and much stronger. I compared him to Tebow in another thread and with a little more time with the weights and proper nutrition I could easily see him in that vein of athletes. If you've watched enough of him you have to be impressed by his ability to make ridiculous throws while guys are hanging at his legs. He took some risks in today's game that wont bode well for him against USC. Those passes across his body on the run will get picked next week. If we can establish a strong running game early it will take a lot of the pressure off of him to win the game on his own. But he's a very hard headed and extremely determined individual. If he plays a decent game next week with minimal mistakes then UT has a decent shot at pulling off the upset. Shane may never get the chance to get his job back once Sam gets his feet wet and gets comfortable. As talented as he is though, he's a freshman and you just can't put a large amount of expectations on him. If he beats USC though... I think UT has their guy moving forward.

My biggest concern about Sam--aside from just being young and inexperienced--is BECAUSE he is so physical, he is injury-prone (see his senior yr in HS), and we can't afford that loss in depth. But TBH, after watching some of USC game tonight, we need to be very physical everywhere on the field, or they are going to run all over us. 😒

I think he got a slice of humble pie early and he's pissed. The Meyer comments didn't help. I think a pissed off Herman is someone we will come to like. Not saying we will win but I think it'll be a good game. I'm more worried about defense than offense. The secondary got lucky on more than one occasion today. I think our run game will determine the outcome. If we can run the ball and keep Darnold and our defense on the sideline then we can hang.

If we can run the ball and keep Darnold and our defense on the sideline then we can hang. And get someone who can get the ball btwn the goal posts.👀

I am gonna dig around on this today and see if I can't get any clarification. Herman provided none during his presser

Jerrod as a running threat at QB will be a good thing no matter who ends up starting. Texas has to attack the few weaknesses in USC
