May not have scored but Sam was calm and cool. CB are playing too far off the LOS in my humble opinion

LBs are filling their gaps infinitely better than the first 2 games. Herman going for it on 4th instead of taking the 3 points is highly annoying. 0-4 against Maryland and he wants to run Sam ehlinger on 4th. Smdh

Can't believe the Offense has been Texas Achilles heel so far.

This defense is playing Texas football. I love seeing this. They know they're being tested and they're rising to the challenge. The offense needs to step up to the plate and deliver. And Herman has to take the points where he can get em if his defense is gonna have his back like this all night.

A Holton Hill TD would be nice right now.

Seeing #55 rolling on the ground right now is huge. Connor is the best offensive talent we have.

Serious ref issues in this one. If that's what happens when your Offense leaves it up to the refs.

I don't understand playing the prevent with Collin Johnson on the field in the secondary. Play the game to win. Prevent defense sucks

Hey guys, we need to realize something even past our frustration: we're actually in this. UT is only down by a single score. We just need even a few offensive plays and we'll be golden.

Nice couple of passes--Johnson and Foreman.

Ain't this something y'all? Texas has no business being in this game. But here they are.

Disclaimer right here before I continue. I think Texas played the hell out of the game. They may have lost, but the loss doesn't tell the full story. We just held the No. 4 team in the nation to DOUBLE OVERTIME. And it took a fumble for us to lose, otherwise we could've gone to triple, or just win the game outright. That's something to be proud of.
That being said... what the hell, Tim Beck? Why on earth did you not play Chris? We could have won the game in regulation had Chris Warren gotten even a few more carries that entire night. He has demonstrated several times that he's the better RB. And yet you start and maintain Porter. WHY??? Especially in that last OT play. Why make Sam run it? Why not give it to Chris? Actually, why not give it to ANYONE who can run?? Heard, Warren, even Porter is the heavier, more physical runner, and yet you gave the ball to SAM?? AT THE THREE YARD LINE??? Someone, give me an explanation please! Because this playcalling is just... ridiculous!

It worked the play before. I don't have a problem with how Beck called the game but I also don't have the reverence for Warrens abilities that everyone else does either. He can't hit the edge and our line isn't that good. It's also hard not to check to a passing play when you see USC trying and failing miserably to cover CJ with man coverage. He abused that poor DB. I won't argue that we should've had more than 30 rushing attempts all night but I also don't believe Warren would've won the game. The reason Johnson had such a good night is bc USC stacked the box early and dared us to throw. Plus our line is nowhere near good enough to dominate USC's d-line. Might've gone ahead and given the rock to Warren on the goal line but then again, the play before was a big success. They got lucky with the strip. Hindsight is 20/20.

Even if that were true (and it might be. I'd need some in depth analysis on this.) it's still better than Porter, who hasn't been able to do much of anything these past couple games. At least Warren can muscle his way through the middle to get at least 4 every now and then.

USC stacked the box early and wanted us to beat them with our 18 year old freshman QB. There were no running lanes. The line couldn't establish anything. We had 35 rushing attempts for 68 yards. Ezekiel Elliot couldn't have done much better. The running and passing game was inept because we can't create lanes or protect the QB. The only time Sam had any amount of time to throw was when he either let it fly downfield on a two step drop or scrambled outside the box. You can argue that we should've given the ball to Warren on the goal line at the end but there's no denying that the offensive line didn't do a good job. The refs not calling PI is more to blame for this loss than Tim Becks play calling. The line has to get better. I'm more worried about the fact that we only have 2 offensive linemen in the 18' class committed and almost no viable prospects considering us other than Angilau.
